Scientific Research

My PhD project aims at developing a biophysical framework to investigate Wave Intensity Analysis in the coronary vasculature. From the clinical point of view the main aim of the project is to achieve a standardised and fully automatic coronary Wave Intensity Analysis to promote the use in the clinical arena. From the modelling point of view we are interested in investigating the main factors playing a role in the complex interaction between coronary vessels and myocardium generating the measured coronary Wave Intensity Analysis profile. The numerical framework (1D blood flow simulation)  is integrated with in-vivo patient data.

The PhD project is sponsored by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Centre of Research Excellence located at St. Thomas Hospital, King’s college London.
